Women in Building

“Women In Building: Am I Good Enough?”  This was the headline of an article I read in a recent Builder’s magazine about the self-doubt women in construction often feel.

As a builder for 12 years, and a realtor since 1996, I see the strong influence of women in building almost daily. They may not be doing the heavy lifting, but their hand can be seen in floor plan trends, design and amenities. And every realtor knows that it’s most often the woman in the family who ultimately selects the home they will buy.

My decision to work with Bend Area Habitat for Humanity as a donor and volunteer was an easy one. A higher percentage of Habitat homeowners are women, and most are mothers. When I see families in our community living in their cars, or worse, I am even more grateful for and proud to be part of the important work done by Bend Area Habitat for Humanity.
